Everything We Know About The Leaks So Far
Steam, the digital distribution platform operated by Valve, recently suffered a massive data leak that exposed more than 12 TB of internal assets, as reported by gabefollower on X. The breach follows a prior cyber‑attack on Valve’s Steam Machine service, prompting questions about the company’s digital security.
Fans have begun sifting through the enormous trove, uncovering unfinished models and cut content from several of Valve’s classic titles, including Left 4 Dead, Portal, Counter‑Strike: Global Offensive, and the long‑awaited but cancelled Half Life 2: Episode 3.
Among the most intriguing finds are early concepts for Portal 2, which include a playable beta, a previously unseen character named Cheryl, a brand‑new weapon, and a zombie model with animations that hint at combat mechanics linked to the Half Life 2: Episode 2 sequel.
The leak also revealed full 3D models of a variety of weapons, items and other assets that have never been shown publicly, as well as altered character models from Left 4 Dead that look markedly different from the final release. Additional details shed light on Valve’s cancelled puzzle project, codenamed F‑Stop.
While the data dump does not fill the void left by the prolonged wait for Half Life 3, the coming days should provide further glimpses of what fans might have seen from Valve’s beloved franchises.
