New Starfield Creation Lets You Start A Family

Starfield now offers a roleplaying mechanic similar to Skyrim’s child adoption, letting players bring children into their lives.

The feature arrives through a fan‑made Creation called Parenthood: Child Adoption by KalTheHuman, which can be purchased from the in‑game store for 400 creation credits (or 500 for $4.99) and works on both PC and console.

Once installed, you can adopt two fully voiced NPC children – Eli, a mechanically gifted youngster from Cydonia who travels with his reprogrammed robot Pip, and Riley, a Hopetown dockhand who dreams of becoming a pilot.

These children can reside on your ship, in your house, or even with your own parents if you have them. The Creation adds several roleplay options, such as playing hide‑and‑seek, giving gifts and allowances, and telling them stories.

Beyond the roleplay, adopting the children grants gameplay perks that grow stronger the more time you spend with them: Eli reduces the weight you need to carry, while Riley expands your grav‑jump range.

Although Skyrim introduced child adoption through official DLC, this fan‑made Creation shows that Bethesda’s community is still finding ways to add family life to Starfield, which otherwise has a smaller player base. Free mods remain available, and the paid Creation model reflects a compromise that many players have come to accept over time.
