World of Warcraft: Forever Brings Classic+ to Life

At the closing of BlizzCon’s opening ceremony, Blizzard surprised fans by unveiling World of Warcraft: Forever, the long‑rumored Classic+ mode. Created by the Classic team, the expansion drops players into the game’s very first year, capping characters at level 60 and aiming to preserve the feel of the original launch.

The cinematic trailer showed the iconic dwarf hunter taking a new route down the mountain, reaching the walled city of Dalaran, which opens to reveal hidden secrets beneath. Viewers also got a glimpse of the previously unreachable World Tree Nordrassil and a brand‑new sky kingdom inhabited by a fresh elf race, the Skyborne Elves.

Blizzard promises a full slate of content: three brand‑new zones at launch, several revamped classics to flesh out the map, more than 1,000 new quests, a new battleground, nine fresh dungeons, two new raids, and the addition of the Skyborne Elves as a playable race. Updated world visuals, new reputitions, pets, and many other features round out the experience.

Players can try the game on the show floor at BlizzCon, and a beta opens this Thursday. The release date is set for November 4, 2026, earlier than many expected.
