Nintendo Switch 2 price rise and new bundles
The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to increase in price by $50, bringing the standard model to $500. To coincide with the hike, Nintendo announced two new bundles that will launch after the price change: a revived Mario Kart World bundle priced at $550 and a Nintendo Switch Sports Resort bundle slated for later this year at $530. Both bundles include a 90‑day subscription to Nintendo Switch Online.
When the Switch 2 first arrived, it offered a standalone console and a bundle that paired the hardware with a digital copy of Mario Kart World for $500, a discount compared with buying the two items separately. That bundle was quietly discontinued, and the new version returns at a higher price while still providing only a digital game and the same 90‑day online access. The Sports Resort bundle adds a code for the upcoming Sports Resort title, also digital, and similarly includes the 90‑day subscription.
Nintendo justified the price increase by citing “various changes in market conditions” that are expected to persist. The decision comes despite a recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling that declared Trump‑era tariffs on the company illegal, meaning Nintendo will receive a refund of tariff payments but has no plans to pass any of that benefit to consumers. The $50 increase in the United States is roughly double the increase seen in Europe, and hopes that the tariff ruling might curb the hike have been dashed.
Fans are hoping the new bundles signal more variety, such as a potential Donkey Kong or Poké‑related package, but so far the offering remains limited to the two announced options.
