Capcom Forces Removal of Street Fighter 6 Hitbox Data
Ultimate Frame Data (Ultimate Frame Data) announced it would remove the Street Fighter 6 hitbox information after receiving a legal request from Capcom.
The notice explained that the page contained hitbox and collision data not normally visible during regular gameplay and asked the site to disable access to that material by October 30, 2026.
MetalMusicMan posted the letter on X, writing “Not my choice, sorry everyone” and sharing a link to the tweet (pic.twitter.com/dvsJGT6ujR) with the date (October 23, 2026).
In fighting games, hitboxes are invisible sections of a character that define attack range and shape; they can be revealed with mods, and studying them helps players improve. Capcom argued that it does not permit the use of those modding tools, making the data unavailable.
The Street Fighter 6 community expressed surprise that a typically FGC‑friendly company would take such a step, especially since Nintendo, which is generally opposed to the FGC, has not acted similarly. Ultimate Frame Data continues to host hitbox information for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which remains unaffected.
