Steam Tuesday Maintenance
About half an hour ago I logged off my work computer and went to the living room, where our PC is hooked to a TV so we can play Steam games on a good screen instead of a bad one. I was about to boot up Fields of Mistria and continue trying to save March from remaining a total asshole all his life, but I kept getting an error that Steam couldn’t connect to the cloud to load my save, and the game wouldn’t start.
I checked whether Steam was down. Both SteamDB and DownDetector showed issues, and the Steam subreddit was full of confused users asking the same question.
Community members pointed out that Steam typically runs maintenance on Tuesday evenings, usually for about 10‑30 minutes between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. ET. The schedule isn’t posted officially, but it’s a well‑known pattern among regular players.
The following flow chart illustrates the typical situation:

Hope that helps!
While I was writing this, Steam came back online, confirming the downtime was just the usual Tuesday maintenance, so I can now get back to gaming.
