South Park Discord Shutdown
The moderators of the official South Park Discord announced they are shutting the server down immediately. A screenshot of the notice showed that over the past two years, regular contact with South Park Digital Studios and parent company Paramount dwindled from weekly updates to gaps of six months or more.
“Paramount and South Park Digital Studios have effectively put us in charge of their official property and left us to manage it without consistent support,” the announcement read.

A recent change to Discord’s bot policies caused one of the server’s moderation bots to go offline. Restoring it required personal information that the volunteer team, wary of past doxxing incidents, felt was inappropriate to provide and asked Paramount to handle.
“We felt […]Paramount, as the owner, should’ve completed this process. We received no response,” the moderators wrote.
The recent merger between Paramount and Skydance, finalized last week, has only deepened the problem. “We have exhausted all available avenues to attempt contact, and the formation of Skydance (the Paramount‑WBD merger) has made finding contacts now an impossible task,” they said. Kotaku has reached out to Paramount for comment.
Another fallout from the merger is a massive leak of Cartoon Network data a recent massive leak of Cartoon Network data. Over 200 gigabytes of information was leaked containing everything from show bibles to background and character art files, storyboards, production guides and more. KFC Spain posted a video using assets from the leak before it was taken down, likely due to DMCA notices from Skydance; copies of the video remain on X the video.

Earlier this year the Avatar Aang movie also leaked, though an investigation linked the leak to a suspect and cleared Paramount of responsibility. The South Park Discord closure, however, is directly tied to a lack of communication from the parent company and the inability to replace the lost moderation bot without significant effort.
“It is important to remember that we are volunteers who chose to serve the community for free. We are not South Park Digital Studios, Skydance, or Comedy Central staff; we are simply South Park fans.”
