Patrick Stewart, beloved actor, dies at 86
Patrick Stewart, celebrated for his extensive work in film, television, theater and occasional video games, passed away on October 28 at the age of 86.
An official statement on his social media announced that he died after a brief and moving journey with Alzheimer’s disease and Lewy body dementia.
Stewart’s family, including his wife Sunny, shared a heartfelt tribute, noting that he was surrounded by loved ones, music, prayers, tears and laughter, and that his graceful presence will be deeply missed.
His acting career spans more than six decades, beginning on stage before moving to screen and television. He is best known for portraying Jean‑Luc Picard in the Star Trek franchise, a role he reprised in the series Star Trek: Picard from 2020 to 2023, and for playing Charles Xavier in the X‑Men films, including a multiverse version in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. His final appearance as the mutant leader will be in Avengers: Doomsday, scheduled for release on December 18.
In video games, Stewart lent his voice to many characters, most notably Emperor Uriel Septim VII in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, whose recordings were later used in the game’s remaster.
