Streaming giant Netflix has taken notice, reportedly setting aside an existing D&D project to develop a live‑action series set in the haunted realm of Ravenloft. According to Deadline, the series already has two prominent figures attached: writer and executive producer John August and executive producer Alfonso Cuarón. August has penned titles such as Frankenweenie, Dark Shadows, Big Fish and Corpse Bride, while Cuarón is celebrated for writing Gravity, Children of Men, Y tu mamá también and directing Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Their early involvement signals a serious commitment from Wizards of the Coast and its parent company Hasbro, suggesting the adaptation will be treated with care rather than as a mere cash grab. The move also appears to have led to the cancellation of a previously developing Forgotten Realms series, underscoring Netflix’s focus on Ravenloft.
