Carrier Strike And Fighter Sweep
The Top Gun update adds two new modes. In Carrier Strike, two teams of 32 spawn on opposite aircraft carriers and fight for five capture points on the island between them. Controlling more points speeds up damage to the enemy carrier’s health bar shown on the HUD. When the carrier’s health drops below 50%, players can board the ship, plant a bomb, and watch it explode, just like in Breakthrough mode. Fighter Sweep is a jet‑only mode where six two‑person teams battle over islands dotted with destroyable stockpiles. Destroying an enemy jet earns 50 points and a stockpile gives 15 points; the duo with the highest score at round end wins. This mode is ideal for practicing jet combat without risking your team.
Top Gun Event Rewards
Playing the new modes earns progress toward Top Gun challenges, which grant Ace Medals—a limited‑time currency used for exclusive cosmetics. The event runs for 27 days, so focus on the challenges to collect medals before they disappear. All rewards are accessed through the Event tab, where you can spend medals on any of ten items in any order. Once all are unlocked, you receive the Ace Aviator skin. The full list of cosmetics and their medal costs includes:
| Name | Type | Ace Medal Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Interdictor | Sniper Rifle | 100 |
| Crucible of Victory | Player Card Background | 20 |
| G-Force Reckoner | PW5A3 Skin | 150 |

| Hanging Edge | KBR Mark II Knife Skin | 100 |
| Adrenaline Spike | M16A4 Skin | 150 |
| Crested Courage | Weapon Charm | 30 |

Interdictor Sniper Rifle
The update introduces the Interdictor sniper rifle, a heavy‑hitting, long‑range weapon that fires explosive rounds and excels at targets beyond 100 meters. Its damage is high, but the rifle suffers noticeable recoil and a slow reload, making it best suited for long‑range engagements or counter‑sniping rather than close‑quarters fire.
To unlock the Interdictor you need to earn 100 Ace Medals through the Top Gun challenges and purchase it from the Event tab. No other prerequisite unlocks are required, unlike the Battle Pass. After the event ends, the weapon will likely need a separate challenge series to obtain.
Wake Island Returns
Wake Island, a fan‑favorite map that first appeared in Battlefield 1942, returns as the final major addition. The crescent‑shaped island sits between two aircraft carriers that launch troops at match start. Players battle for control of the central airfield while enjoying new features such as ziplines linking the carriers to the mainland for faster movement and a wrecked ship off the coast that provides cover for boats and snipers. Compared to larger maps like Golmud Railway, Wake Island offers a tighter, more intense experience.
