Switch 2 price rise and the best way to buy now
Nintendo’s UK store announced on X that the upcoming Switch 2 will cost an extra £24, bringing the full price to £419.99 when the increase takes effect. The new US MSRP was revealed earlier, but UK shoppers finally learned their fate this week, with the change set for September.
There are still 12 days left to purchase a Switch 2 at its original £374.99 price, if you haven’t already. While the standalone console is easy to find, many retailers are already offering the Pokémon Pokopia bundle for £423.99, which is £24 less than the new standard price.
At Amazon the bundle is listed at £423.99, down from the regular £429.99, saving you £6 compared with buying the console and game separately. The standalone console costs £374.99, and adding the game (priced at €58.99, roughly £58) brings the total to about £433.98, meaning a modest £3.98 saving when bought as a bundle at full price.
If you buy before September, the bundle includes a digital copy of Pokopia rather than a physical one. Since the game has no physical release – it’s a key‑card title with a white banner on the box – a digital version is actually more convenient for a handheld that you’ll want to carry everywhere.
Having the game digitally means instant access without juggling a key card, and you’ll be able to jump straight into the new Bubbly Basin DLC, which promises many more hours of play. I’ve already logged over 100 hours in Pokopia and expect another 100 with the DLC, so a digital copy is a smart choice for any Switch 2 owner.
If Pokémon isn’t your thing, Nintendo also offers a “Build Your Own Switch 2” bundle. You can pick a standard console, choose any non‑Pokémon game, add a Nintendo Switch Online subscription, and select a free accessory. The sooner you take advantage of this offer, the less you’ll pay when the £24 price hike arrives.
