How Does Haunted By Daylight 2026 Work?
During the annual Haunted by Daylight event, Dead by Daylight adds new mechanics built around Void Energy, Void Portals and Void Crystals. Up to eight pieces of Void Energy can be gathered in a single trial. At the start of each trial six Void Portals appear; two are open right away while the remaining four must be activated using collected Void Energy. Four Void Haunts also wander the map, chasing survivors and applying the Hindered status when they hit, then respawning elsewhere.
Survivors earn Void Energy by repairing generators, stunning or blinding the Killer, destroying Void Pumpkins, or interacting with open portals. Killers collect energy by downing or hooking survivors, attacking the roaming Void Haunts, or destroying the same pumpkins. Both roles can spend their gathered energy on special actions. Killers may fire a captured Haunt projectile that damages survivors and interrupts actions, teleport to ambush near a portal, or boost their speed while damaging generators, pallets or breakable walls; each of these costs four Void Energy and grants a 30 percent speed increase. Survivors start with a Void Crystal that occupies no regular item slot. Spending four energy creates a temporary Fog Cloud that hides vision and mutes scratch‑mark noises, while spending eight energy lets a survivor place the crystal on an unfinished generator to auto‑repair it at 0.8 charges per second for up to 30 seconds. The crystal cannot be repaired manually and ends early if the Killer destroys the generator.
