MTG x Star Trek Hit With More Major Product Delays
Despite being the next major Universes Beyond release for Magic: The Gathering, the Star Trek collaboration has already faced a rocky start, with production delays announced back in October that first impacted Commander decks in North America. Wizards Play Network has now confirmed additional delays across the region, affecting Scene Boxes, Bundles, Draft Sets, Beam Me Up Bundles, and Commander decks, all set to arrive later than originally planned.
The new release windows are expected to see Scene Boxes and Bundles hit shelves after the November 12 prerelease, while Draft Night and Beam Me Up Bundles, as well as Commander decks, will follow the November 13 tabletop release.
Because Wizards has not yet posted the information on its other public channels, game stores are likely to break the news themselves, a situation that is generating backlash among players who are eager to see the products on the shelves.
These postponements will also disrupt the pre‑release schedule for the set, leaving fans waiting longer to get their hands on the new Star Trek‑themed products.
MTGs Star Trek Set Isn’t Off To A Great Start
Even though the set features unique card art and flavorful abilities, many game stores have resorted to bribing players with reduced prices on the upcoming Nauctis set to boost attendance at the Star Trek pre‑release.
While Magic: The Gathering is unlikely to reduce the number or variety of Universes Beyond products because of Star Trek’s comparatively lower popularity, the success of this set could affect how many pre‑release kits are sent to stores for future Beyond releases.
