How to Unlock Talents
After finishing the first part of The Sinking City 2 and entering the annex area, you will discover Safe Rooms that contain the Talent Table. This table lets you customize your playstyle by spending Dream Essence, which you earn through story progress and puzzle solving.
When and Where to Unlock
The first opportunity to unlock talents appears in part three of the story, when you explore the church and graveyard after the worm‑eyed man sends you to a nearby hotel. Inside the Safe Room of the church you can access the Talent Table, where each talent provides a small boost. As you invest in lower‑tier talents, higher tiers become available, and additional talent slots open up on your Mask.
Talent System Details
Dream Essence is the currency used at the Talent Table. You gain it by completing major story beats, solving mysteries, and finishing in‑game goals. Unlocking lower‑level talents grants access to upper tiers, with the strongest rewards reserved for the Eldritch tier after you meet specific objectives.
To reach the Intermediate tier you need four Basic talents; the Advanced tier requires four Intermediate talents. Talents come in circular or triangular shapes, and your Mask can hold only a limited number of each shape at once, but you can switch them anytime at a Safe Room.
Talent Overview
Basic Talents – early‑game options such as Carapace of the Damned (less damage from humanoids), Gunslinger’s Trance (faster weapon swap), Instruments of Death (extra damage after swapping), Potent Tincture (reduced damage when healing), Profane Reload (quick reload), Silent Hunter (stronger attack in the dark).
Intermediate Talents – more specialized effects like Alchemical Abundance (more ammo when crafting), Butcher’s Zeal (massive melee damage after a kill), Chitinbound (less damage from monsters), Feral Surge (boosted damage near creatures), Strange Evasion (damage reduction after dodging), and Unhallowed Salve (greater healing).
Advanced Talents – high‑impact abilities such as Crimson Threshold (more damage when low on health), Deathless Vigor (increased durability), Inner Beast (greater melee damage with empty mag), Opening Gambit (first bullet stronger), Vengeful Spirit (kill your killer after dying), and Wandering Bullet (enhanced weak‑point damage).
