Anyone who follows Formula 1 knows the most exciting battles happen in the midfield, and the same is true in sim racing. Direct‑drive wheels once limited to champions have become mainstream, and PXN’s new VD4, VD6 and VD10 range (4 Nm, 6 Nm and 10 Nm) entered the market last year. The VD6, priced at $379/£409, includes a 6 Nm wheelbase, a 280 mm wheel, two pedals and a desk clamp, positioning it against the MOZA R5 and Logitech G RS50.

Design

The VD6 looks like a simple black cube with side fins, rear inlets and a quick‑release front. It feels heavy and solid, with an aluminum chassis that gives a premium feel and helps cooling. The stock wheel and pedals are functional but entry‑level, while the optional GT ONE 300 mm wheel ( $219/£219 alone or $469/£469 with the base) upgrades the feel dramatically, offering a more adult grip, fully backlit buttons and a solid, weighty edge.

Characteristics

The VD6 sits in the direct‑drive sweet spot: 6 Nm constant torque, 7 Nm peaks and a 24‑bit encoder. The bundled wheel has 12 edge buttons, a D‑pad, two rotary encoders and RPM lights; the rear paddles are aluminum with Hall‑effect sensors. The GT ONE adds larger, backlit buttons, three front rotary encoders, two thumb encoders, magnetic shift paddles, Hall‑effect clutch paddles and a row of RPM LEDs, plus a sticker sheet for custom labels. The PD HM pedals are a basic two‑pedal set (clutch optional) using Hall sensors and light resistance; they connect via a built‑in USB hub that also supplies extra ports.

Performance

After bolting the VD6 to a Playseat Trophy Logitech G Edition rig, I found the mounting plate didn’t line up perfectly, leaving a pair of bolts in any position and a slight pedal play under hard braking. Firmware updates were cumbersome, with devices occasionally disappearing until the whole base was refreshed, but the latest update resolved the issues. In games such as EA SPORTS F1 2026, Forza Horizon 6 and EA WRC, force feedback is solid and scales with surface texture, making gravel or sidewalk impacts clear. Six newton‑metres feels ample for casual racers; only high‑end wheels like the Logitech G Pro are needed for extra punch.

Should you buy the PXN VD6?

For the price, the VD6 package offers strong value, rivaling the MOZA R5 and undercutting the Nacon Revosim RS Pure. The wheelbase exceeds expectations, though the stock wheel and pedals lag behind. Adding the GT ONE wheel and pedals raises the total to about $560/£560, matching a Logitech RS50 bundle in the UK. In the US the same setup costs $750, making the deal less attractive. If you’re a PC sim racer on a budget, willing to spend time on firmware and button mapping, the VD6 is an easy recommendation; the experience is good, you just take the scenic route to get there.

How we test the PXN VD6+ GT One racing wheel

We tested the VD6 and GT ONE wheels on a PC, mounted on a Playseat Trophy Logitech G Edition. Both wheels and the PD HM pedals were used in EA SPORTS F1 2026, Forza Horizon 6 and EA WRC, with configuration done through the PXN SimRacing app and required firmware updates. For full details on our testing methodology, see the GamesRadar+ Hardware Policy.
