Shogun 2 Complete Edition Delisted After Poor Reviews
Total War: Shogun 2 – Complete Edition was removed from sale shortly after its launch, receiving overwhelmingly negative reviews. Sega pledged to find the causes of the problems and to make improvements. Series vice‑president Roger Collum issued a personal apology on the subreddit, explaining that the remaster was not developed by Creative Assembly and had not gone through the studio’s usual internal reviews. He said the team had turned its attention to other projects and let an external partner handle the work.
Creative Assembly’s Stance on AI
Collum emphasized that Creative Assembly does not use generative AI to create game assets and believes technology should support, not replace, human creativity. He said the studio uses AI tools only to help creators with tasks such as debugging or prototyping, allowing experts to focus on making great games. An investigation into the external developer, identified on Steam as Mataboo Games, is under way. Fans were urged not to direct anger at individuals and to avoid harassment, as Collum took responsibility for the studio’s mistakes and promised transparency when updates are available.
Senior developers from Creative Assembly have been pulled to work with Sega and the external partner on the next steps for the remaster, aiming to restore player trust and improve the game’s quality.
