Nintendo fans believe Ubisoft may have accidentally pointed toward September 10, 2026, as the date of the next Nintendo Direct—but for now, the evidence remains an intriguing coincidence rather than confirmation.
Nintendo fans have once again entered one of their favorite traditions: attempting to figure out when the company’s next Direct presentation will happen before Nintendo officially announces it.
This time, however, the speculation has an unusually interesting source—Ubisoft.
The rumor began after leaked material from Just Dance: Decades of Hits started appearing online. Ubisoft responded to the situation through the official Just Dance social account, acknowledging that unfinished visuals and gameplay elements were circulating before the publisher was ready to show them.
Ubisoft then revealed something fans immediately noticed: the company intends to share the “complete picture” of the game on September 10, 2026.
Ubisoft never mentioned a Nintendo Direct.
That hasn’t stopped Nintendo fans from connecting the dots.
Why September 10 Suddenly Makes Sense
The biggest reason behind the theory is Just Dance’s long relationship with Nintendo presentations.
In recent years, Ubisoft has frequently used Nintendo Direct broadcasts to showcase or reveal new entries in the franchise. With Ubisoft Forward currently absent from the publisher’s regular event schedule, a Nintendo presentation would provide an obvious place to properly unveil Decades of Hits.
The timing becomes even more suspicious because September 10 had already been circulating as a potential Direct date.
Nintendo-focused creator SwitchForce previously suggested Thursday, September 10 as the date of Nintendo’s next presentation. Ubisoft subsequently announcing a major Just Dance reveal for exactly the same day gave that rumor significantly more attention.
There is also history on the rumor’s side.
Nintendo regularly holds major presentations during September, often positioning them ahead of Japan’s Tokyo Game Show. Tokyo Game Show 2026 begins September 17, making the previous week a reasonable window for Nintendo and its third-party partners to outline upcoming releases.
But Ubisoft Hasn’t Actually Confirmed Anything
Despite the excitement, there is an important distinction between a convincing clue and an actual leak.
Ubisoft only confirmed that more Just Dance: Decades of Hits information is coming on September 10. The publisher did not say that information would appear during a Nintendo Direct, and Nintendo has not announced a September 10 presentation as of September 1.
Even Nintendo fans are divided. Some believe Ubisoft’s date practically gives the game away, while others have pointed out that Ubisoft could simply release a trailer, press release or standalone presentation that day.
That’s why the best way to treat this story is as a credible rumor—not confirmed news.
Still, all the pieces fit surprisingly well: a traditional September Direct window, a previously rumored September 10 date and Ubisoft promising a major reveal for a franchise strongly associated with Nintendo presentations.
If Nintendo announces a Direct for September 10, Ubisoft’s innocent-looking Just Dance message may go down as one of the more amusing accidental clues of the year.
Until then, Nintendo fans will be doing what they do best:
Watching the calendar and waiting for that Direct notification to appear.
