Guide to the Happy Mask Shopkeeper Quest in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake offers many side activities besides the main story and dungeons. One of them involves the Happy Mask Shopkeeper, who asks you to sell his masks to specific buyers. Completing the quest rewards you with rupees and a special mask.
Keaton Mask
After beating Dodongo’s Cavern, travel to Hyrule Castle Town and enter the newly opened Mask Shop. Speak to the Happy Mask Shopkeeper and obtain the Keaton Mask. As Young Link, head northeast to Kakariko Village, climb the steps to the gate leading to Death Mountain Pass, equip the mask, and talk to the guard there. He will buy the mask for 15 rupees; after returning to the shopkeeper you keep 5 rupees.
Skull Mask
The next mask is the Skull Mask, worth 20 rupees. Before selling it, revisit the Lost Woods. From the Kokiri Forest entrance go right, left, right, left, left to reach a meadow with two Business Scrubs. Deflect their attacks, drop a bomb on the cracked grey spot behind the wall, and step onto the podium while wearing the mask. The larger scrub will give you the Biggest Deku Stick Bag. Return to the Skull Kid, play Saria’s Song to receive a Piece of Heart, then speak with the Skull Kid on a tree stump to sell the mask for 10 rupees. Pay the shopkeeper 20 rupees to unlock the next mask.
Spooky Mask
Take the Spooky Mask from the shop and return to Kakariko Village during the day. Locate the young boy wandering the graveyard, equip the mask, and talk to him. He will offer 50 rupees, and after giving the shopkeeper 30 rupees you net 20 rupees.
Bunny Hood
The final mask is the Bunny Hood. Find the man who runs around Lon Lon Ranch; he appears near Hyrule Castle at sunset. Wear the hood and speak to him to sell it for 200 rupees. Return to the Happy Mask Shopkeeper, who will reward you with the Mask of Truth, allowing you to talk to Gossip Stones.
Bonus
Using the Mask of Truth, go back to the Lost Woods stage where you obtained the Biggest Deku Stick Bag. Step on the podium again to earn a Deku Nut capacity upgrade.
