8BitDo Teams Up with Microsoft for Gears of War: E-Day Gaming Gear
The accessories maker 8BitDo has partnered with Microsoft to release a limited‑edition gaming keyboard and mouse inspired by Gears of War: E-Day. Both the R8 mouse and the TKL mechanical keyboard feature a striking red‑and‑black color scheme that mirrors the game’s blood‑red aesthetic, giving PC and Xbox players a bold look for their desks. The R8 mouse offers a slightly more refined silhouette, while the keyboard includes translucent keycaps, a Gears logo banner across the top, and vivid blood‑splatter details. Its box also contains two oversized macro buttons bearing the Crimson Omen and Locust Horde emblems. Priced at $119.99 for the keyboard and $59.99 for the mouse, the pair is available on Amazon after a long pre‑order period, with shipments slated for November 4.
Under the bright red caps, the keyboard retains 8BitDo’s popular hot‑swappable switches in a tenkeyless layout. It adds satisfying dials for multimedia and gaming controls and the same giant macro buttons that have made the retro 8BitDo keyboard a favorite among gamers for years. A 2.4 GHz wireless connection provides reliable performance, and the price point keeps it competitive despite the premium look.
The R8 mouse is equipped with a 26K DPI PAW 3396 sensor, two side buttons, and Huano main switches. Its ambidextrous design works well with both 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth connections, adding versatility for different gaming setups. The macro buttons, though large and sometimes tricky to hit in fast moments, deliver a tactile satisfaction that many find useful for map shortcuts or quest logs.
From a technical standpoint, the duo offers solid value. Wireless gaming peripherals often carry a heavy price tag, yet 8BitDo avoids the extra fees seen on mainstream brands from Razer, Corsair, and Logitech. The official blessing from Microsoft is not surprising; the company recently collaborated on an Xbox 25th‑anniversary translucent green kit, and 8BitDo has a history of working with Xbox on controllers and accessories.
