Japanese Gamers Have Seven Games They Are Looking Forward To More Than Grand Theft Auto 6
Grand Theft Auto 6 fever is reaching a fever pitch. Over the past few days, almost a dozen gameplay videos have surfaced of Rockstar’s next title, just days before the planned reveal in a groundbreaking partnership with Netflix.
While Western fans are eagerly awaiting the game, a recent Famitsu weekly poll shows that Japanese gamers rank GTA 6 eighth out of ten titles, with seven Japanese-developed games ahead of it.
The poll, compiled by Sevengamer, lists the top seven as Pokémon Winds & Waves (567 votes), The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (424), Persona 4 Revival (387), Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave (371), Persona 6 (329), Dragon Quest Monsters 4 (228) and Final Fantasy VII Revelation (217).
All of these titles are from Japanese studios and belong to the RPG genre, with Nintendo and Atlus accounting for most of the spots—Nintendo appears three times and Atlus twice. Persona 6, still unreleased after more than a decade, benefits from long‑standing fan anticipation.
The recent wave of GTA 6 leaks, now totaling ten separate videos, has left Rockstar’s development team frustrated and exhausted. Despite subpoenas issued to Microsoft and Discord, the source known as Cyberleek remains at large, and the controversy shows no sign of ending.
