How To Solve Day 2 Lake Puzzles: Servant Of The Lake

After you’ve completed your first day in Servant of the Lake, you’ve started to realise that all is not as it seems within the Vanderboom estate. The second day has you participating in a hunt, as well as unravelling even more of the mystery.

Preparing Coffee

Speak with the maid to start your day and learn what tasks await you. If you head into the Servant’s Room, you’ll see another box puzzle waiting for you, only the problem is that when you go to view the paintings, they are all empty!

How To Solve The Painting Box Puzzle

Head upstairs and interact with the painting of the house. Click the dimmed windows on the house once so everything is lit up.

If you click them more than once, they start moving around, but the aim is to have Alexandra in the bottom left window, Albous in the third window from the right on the bottom, and William in the right middle window.

Clicking each dimmed window once is enough to put them in the right place.

Head back downstairs and look at all three paintings to see where they are pointing.

• Alexandra is pointing up.
• William is pointing left.
• Albous is pointing right.

Head back to the painting and look at the numbers each character is pointing at. For example, because Alexandra is pointing up, her number is 3. The number is 315.

Return to the Servant’s Room and move the dials on the box to say 315 to get the coffee beans.

If you want to unlock the ‘Serving Mr. Aldous His Favorite Coffee’ optional achievement. Click the stove and place the coffee beans atop the stove, beside the teapot, until they turn brown. Later, when you give him the coffee, the achievement will unlock.

• Go into the hallway and head upstairs.
• Use the coffee beans on the grinder on the table, then turn the lever to grind them.
• Pick up the ground coffee and head back to the Servant’s Room.
• Place the coffee in the teapot on the stove, then pick it up.
• Head back to the room with the pink armchair and click on the far door, which is now ajar.
• Pour Aldous his coffee.
• Head upstairs and speak with the maid.
• Enter the door on your left.

Waking Up William

• Pick up the spoon from the table.
• Click on the curtain to the left, then open it.
• Pick up the hat.
• Take the watch out of the pocket and open it to see the time.
• Click on the grandfather clock and set it to the same time (nine o’clock).
• Open the grandfather clock and click the cat to make it move.
• Look in the box.

How To Solve The Clock Box Puzzle

Look at the painting above William to see the family portrait, and you’ll see the items they have match those in the box.

You need to arrange the items in the following order:

• Top Left: Red Jewel
• Top Right: Pipe
• Bottom Left: Skull
• Bottom Middle: Boot
• Bottom Right: Chalice

Afterwards, click the chalice.

• Next, pan to the right of the screen and click on the bird droppings on the floor.
• Take the seed from the bird poop.
• Put the seed in the flower pot on the table.
• Go to William and click his mouth so that he is drooling.
• Use the chalice to collect his drool.
• Use the chalice on the flower pot.
• Click the flower, then collect the seeds.
• Give the seeds to the parrot and then collect its feather.

To get the optional ‘Ticking Mr. William’ achievement, use the feather to touch his nipples and nose until it unlocks.

Next, click on William’s foot and use the feather on it. The direction the toe wiggles and how many times it wiggles dictate which toe you need to tickle next.

For example, if it gestures down and wiggles twice, you need to count two toes down and tickle that one next.

• Pick up the key from the floor.
• Use the key on the box on the table.
• Take out the eyedrops and knob.
• Use the knob on the window and open it.
• Use the chalice in the rain.
• Use the chalice on the flower pot.
• Click the flower to get more seeds.
• Feed the parrot the seeds.
• Pick up the egg.

Next, click on William and open his eyes, then use the eye drops on each eye. Next, open his mouth and use the coffee.

• Speak to William.
• Give him his hat.
• Give him his egg.
• Tap the egg with the spoon until it breaks.
• Click William again.
• Use the scroll on the table.

How To Open The Scroll

You need to make the fish whole, with the tail on the left and the head on the right.

It appears this is randomised each time, so we can’t tell you how many turns to take for each segment.

Take the scroll out and read the note.

You need to move the paper under William’s hand so the images are in the correct order.

Each image will become greyed out once correct. Don’t move his pointing finger over an image that isn’t greyed out unless you are picking it or it will reset.

You want to point in the following order:

• House
• Cave
• Door
• Timepieces
• Book
• Elixir
• Enlightened silhouette

Speak with William afterwards to end this section.

Cleaning The Floors

• Head upstairs to find the maid and speak with her.
• Open the bag on the table and take the brush out.
• Click on the bloody puddle on the floor.

Holding the brush over a blood spot will make it disappear.

It appears you need to clean these in a set order; otherwise, the blood spots reappear.

• On the left side, clean the middle one.
• The bottom right small one.
• The bottom left one.
• The bottom one.
• The right one.
• The top one.

Click on the door to the right and select the next blood puzzle.

• On the right side, clean the middle one.
• Clean the upper right one.
• The top left one.
• The leftmost one (small).
• The upper middle small one.
• The big one on the left.
• The remaining one.

Head down to the Servant’s Room and click the next blood puddle.

To unlock the ‘Deep Cleaning’ optional achievement, scrub the stick man family illustration of the Vanderbooms in the top left after you have cleaned the last blood spot, but before letting go of the scrubber.

• Bottom right.
• Bottom left.
• Next one up on the left.
• Right middle.
• The one above the last one.
• The last remaining small one.
• Bottom big one.
• Top big one.

Go back upstairs and click the door on the right to find the maid, Kate, then speak with her. Afterwards, peer through the keyhole on the bathroom door.

Open the doors beside the bathroom, then click the ladder to descend.

Going Hunting

• Pick up the bullets from the tree stump.
• Read the note on the table on the left.
• Click on Aldous and speak with him.

Use the rifle on the tree stump. You’ll need to use a bullet on it each time before you shoot.

To get the optional ‘A Perfect Hunt’ achievement, you need to not waste any bullets and hit every shot.

Here’s what you need to do:

• Pan right and shoot the pheasant in the tree.
• Shoot the pigeon that flies past in the sky (line up the shot and press the trigger once it overlaps).
• Just northeast of the rock in front of the stump, you can see a black shadow behind a tree. Shoot that to make the boar come out.
• Shoot the boar.
• Quit out, collect the fresh bullets, then select the rifle again.
• Pan left and shoot William.
• Shoot him again once he’s in the river.
• Shoot the rock to make the rabbit come out.
• Shoot the rabbit.
• Quit out, collect the fresh bullets, then select the rifle again.
• Pan left and shoot the deer.

Afterwards, examine the note that falls to the floor for your next clue. You need to remember the order: sight, smell, touch, taste, and hearing. Interact with the table for your next puzzle.

How To Solve The Animal Parts Puzzle

There are five body parts to represent the five senses, and once they are next to a body part with a number on it that they match, they will react to it.

• Eye: The bone with the IX (9) on it.
• Nose: The item with the I (1) on it.
• Claw: The bone with the II (2) on it.
• Tongue: The meat with the VIII (7) on it.
• Ear: The item with the VI (6) on it.

Click on the padlock on the shed and move the dials to input: 91276. Go into the shed and collect the cloth and the cleaver.

• Give Aldous the cleaver.
• Click his arm to make him chop until blood covers his eyes.
• Click his bag and pull the straps through to open it.
• Take the silver timepiece.
• Clean Aldous’ face with the cloth.

Doing The Washing

• In the hallway, take the sock off the table.
• In the Servant’s Room, pick up all the washing, the baby, and the note from the floor.
• Pick up the underwear from the table.
• Put the washing you have in the tub on top of the stove.
• Go upstairs and click on the door to the left to speak with William and take the sock from him.
• Speak to the maid and give her the baby.
• Speak with the maid again to get the diaper.

Click on the door to the right and then look through the keyhole to the bathroom to get the ‘Close Inspections’ optional achievement.

• Return to the Servant’s Room and put the sock and diaper in the tub; it will bubble over.
• Take the tub.
• Go upstairs, take the door on the right, then open the balcony doors.
• Click to go outside and use the tub on the laundry line.

How To Solve The Laundry Puzzle

You need to put the clothing items in order of how many pink lines they have on them, from none to highest, from left to right.

The correct order is:

• Shirt
• Underwear
• Diaper
• Trousers
• Sock with fewer lines.
• Sock with more lines.
• Towel with the most lines.

The shirt pocket will jingle when you get it correct. Click this to get a key. Use the key on the bathroom door, turn it, then use the knob. Next, head inside.

Helping With Bathing

• Pan to the right and take the cookie from the plate.
• Click the box next to it for your first puzzle.

How To Solve The Moving Tile Bathroom Puzzle

You need to get each grey tile to rest on the bottom tile of the same pattern; however, each tile will keep moving until it hits a wall or another tile.

Here’s the order in which to complete it:

• Move the bottom square-like tile to the right.
• Move the plain circle tile to the right, then down on top of the square tile.
• Move the circle with two points (on the top and bottom) to the right, so it stops on top of its matching pattern.
• Move the circle with four points to the right.
• Move the circle tile up, then all right, then up again, so it’s below the diamond tile.
• Move the circle with four points left, so it lands on top of its matching pattern.
• Move the square tile left.
• Move the circle tile down.
• Move the diamond tile right.
• Move the square tile right, then up, then right, so it’s to the right of the four-point circle.
• Move the circle tile right, then up, so it’s on top of its pattern.
• Move the square tile right, then down, so it’s atop its pattern.
• Move the diamond tile left to finish the puzzle.

Take the soap from within.

How To Solve The Bathroom Wall Tile Puzzle

Click the blue and white tiles behind the bath for your next puzzle. You need to group the tiles in sets of four. When it’s correct, the tiles will go darker.

Press the following tiles together:

• Family member tiles: Alexandra, William, Aldous, James.
• Animal tiles: Cat, bird, goat, and rabbit.
• Flower tiles: Pretty straightforward.
• Body part tiles: Hand, eye, ear, nose.
• Furniture tiles: Table, bath, table, chair.
• Four remaining tiles: Gun, elixir, hat, suitcase.

Take the scissors from within the opened tile.

• Click on the bath and use the tub of water from the washing on it.
• Add the soap.
• Click on Alexandra.
• Remove her hat.
• Take out her hair pin.
• Use the scissors on her stitches.
• Take out the maggot.

Next, you need to find a brush.

• Pan to the left and click the black square on the skirting board.
• Use the cookie on the black hole.
• Click the mouse to make it come out.
• Use the hair pin on the mouse, then remove it.
• Use the maggot on the dead mouse.
• Collect your “comb”.
• Click on Alexandra and comb her hair.
• Unbutton her dress.

Click on the window and click each steamed-up window pane to clean it and unlock the ‘Cleaning the Windows’ optional achievement.

How To Solve The Bubble Bath Puzzle

You need to solve the bubble puzzle by clicking the bubbles in the correct order so that they cancel each other out.

• Click the bubble on the right, then new bubbles will appear.
• Click the top left bubble.
• Click the bubble closest to Alexandra’s right shoulder (on the left of the screen).
• Choose the middlemost bubble.
• Use the pin on the hand a few times to get rid of it.
• Use the scissors on her necklace and collect it.

• Put the hat on the stand to the left of the bathroom and remove the note.
• Take the note from the dress too.
• Overlap the notes on the table to work out which numbers you actually need: 281.

• Click on the suitcase.
• Open the left clasp.
• Move the dials to 281 and then press the button to the left of the dials.
• Go back, then click the suitcase open, then click it again to take the box out.
• Put the necklace in the circular recess on the box.
• Open the box and retrieve the watch.

Night Time Duties

Go upstairs, go to the right and out onto the balcony, then collect and throw the body parts over the balcony to unlock the ‘Garbage Disposal’ optional achievement.

Go into the Servant’s Room and click on William to speak with him until he gives you his timepiece.

Go into the room with the pink armchair, and you’ll see the rug is partially pulled up. Click it. Then go down into the cellar.

How To Solve The Cellar Bottle Puzzle

There are three bottles that correspond to the three siblings, matching the colour (on the bottle neck) and symbol of each of their timepieces. You need to figure out which symbol the bottles need to be on top of.

• Go upstairs and use the bronze timepiece on Alexandra’s portrait to see the symbol that looks like a sword.
• Use the gold timepiece on William’s portrait to see the symbol that looks like an S.
• Use the silver timepiece on Aldous’ portrait to see a symbol that’s a triangle with a horizontal line through it.

Go back to the cellar and move:

• The bottle with the bronze neck atop the sword symbol.
• The bottle with the gold neck above the S symbol.
• The bottle with the silver neck above the triangle with the horizontal line symbol.

Click on the barrel that has now opened to enter a secret passageway.

Inspecting The Cellar

You can only take three items at a time from the cabinet on the right.

• Take the shovel, magnet, and hammer.
• Go through the now open doorway.
• Take the door on the left.
• Use the magnet on the mousehole to get a key.

Click on the mousehole to make the mouse run out, then use the hammer on it to unlock the optional ‘Pest Control’ achievement.

• Go back out and click on the statue to rewind time.

Now for the next statue.

• Take the corkscrew, the empty bottle, and the matches.
• Go through the doorway; choose the second door from the left.
• Use the corkscrew on the barrel twice.
• Use the bottle on the oil that comes out.
• Light the oil trail on the floor with the matches.
• Go through the newly opened hole.
• Pour the oil from the bottle into the hole.
• Drop a match in the hole.
• Continue forward and click the next statue to rewind time again.

Now for the final statue.

• Take the matches, the magnet, and the shovel.
• Go through the now open doorway.
• Take the door on the left.
• Use the shovel on the pile twice to reveal a lockbox.
• Use the magnet on the mousehole to get a key.
• Use the key on the lockbox and retrieve the torch.
• Use the torch in the sconce on the left.
• Light the torch with the matches.
• Go through this door on the left.
• Continue forward and click the final statue.

We now have all three statues and their respective times, so remember those: five o’clock, eight o’clock, and ten o’clock.

Now for the final time.

• Take the weight, the hook, and the hammer.
• Go through the door, then take the door on the right.
• Attach the hook to the hoop hanging from the ceiling.
• Then attach the weight to it.
• Head through the doorway and use the hammer on the breaking pillar to your right until it falls.
• Continue through until you reach the statues.

• Give each statue a timepiece (it doesn’t matter which), but you must set them to the right times.
• Left must be five o’clock.
• Middle must be eight o’clock.
• Right must be ten o’clock.
• Go through the door once it opens.

Collect the book, speak with the mysterious figure, then give him the book. That’s the end of the second day!
