Starbreeze Entertainment is making a TV series out of its cooperative bank robbery simulator, Payday. While we don’t have details on when the show will premiere or where it will air, we do know. courtesy of varietythat Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson has signed on as executive producer.
“Payday has always been about the fantasy of getting your way. Curtis and G-Unit aren’t subtle, and neither are we,” said Adolf Kristjansson, CEO of Starbreeze Entertainment. in the ad.
Jackson’s production company, G-Unit Film & TV, will partner with Payday’s Starbreeze Entertainment studio and Vice Productions to make the show. It’s a good get. G-Unit has already produced a successful crime drama franchise on Starz: the series Power, in which Jackson himself sometimes appears as one of the main characters.
With Payday, Jackson and his production partners will trade in building a drug empire for bank robbery. It will be interesting to see how the show manages to capture the typical chaos of a Payday heist, or if they will try to turn it into a serious, prestige show. Following the soft release of Payday 3 in 2023, the series was quietly connected with a VR title, Payday Aces High, releasing later this year. Virtual reality game and new TV series are part of an effort to expand the Payday franchise beyond the base games.
