No Man’s Sky Heads to iOS
No Man’s Sky, the 2016 space‑exploration title that turned from infamous to celebrated, will soon arrive on iPhone and iPad after three years of work by Hello Games. The upcoming version includes the massive Cosmos update and the full game, not a stripped‑down edition.
According to an update from Sean Murray on Hello Games’ site, the effort began shortly after the Mac launch announcement. A team member joked that getting the game onto an iPhone seemed “seemingly impossible,” but the studio wanted to prove it could be done.
Hello Games stresses that this is the core game, not a “lite” version. While physics differ from PC and console, the experience remains largely the same. Planetary settlements work on iPhone 15 Pro and newer devices, and multiplayer is omitted. All iOS devices from iPhone 11 onward and third‑generation iPad Air can run the game, albeit without settlements.
The UI and controls have been reworked for touch, though players can also use a controller, mouse, or keyboard. Remarkably, the entire game now fits under 4 GB and is said to support long, comfortable sessions without draining the battery quickly.
The iOS release is scheduled for October 28 and will follow a “free to try” model. The final purchase price has not yet been announced, and an Android version remains unlikely.
Fans hope the game will be just as stunning on Android tablets, especially the Pixel Tablet.
