Fact sheet
I spent all night playing the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on Switch 2, and it’s a fantastic experience, though some prefer to play and grind on an emulator instead of enjoying Link’s new look. The game already runs on PC, but performance issues remain. Progress is moving quickly among emulator enthusiasts, as shown in two Unreal Gaming PC videos on YouTube. The first video, posted on the game’s official release day, November 5, shows the splash screen and cutscenes running well, but gameplay suffers from flickering, stuttering, and frame rates of about 20‑30 fps. A video uploaded 12 hours later shows the game running between 30 and 60 fps, still with occasional flicker and stutter, indicating marked progress for half a day’s work. Considering the game was designed for an Arm‑powered handheld with very different hardware than the emulator’s Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 64 GB RAM, and RTX 4080, this is impressive. User akakevinvro on X posted a video claiming a fairly stable 60 fps, and both videos use the Lichii emulator for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, an open‑source project similar to Yuzu. Yuzu’s developers settled a legal dispute with Nintendo of America and halted development in 2024, while Nintendo has a history of removing projects it deems infringing. The Zelda Ocarina of Time Remake dump exists, though no second‑story versions work on any emulator yet, and some fixes are available. Be careful with links, as trustworthy sources are currently hard to find, but the dump is confirmed.
