Fact sheet
Writing about PC hardware news can feel depressing these days, with sky‑high prices, AI hype and disappearing graphics cards. So I’m excited to share something a bit old‑school: Philips’ new 36‑inch panel with a 260 Hz refresh rate.
The monitor sports a 1500R curved VA panel, a 3440 × 1440 resolution and an overclockable refresh rate that should please both casual and competitive gamers.
While VA technology isn’t new and many curved ultrawides have passed through PC Gamer’s labs, the 36‑inch size sits nicely between the typical 34‑inch ultrawides and the larger 39‑inch‑plus models that dominate many desks.
Its specifications aren’t revolutionary, but they hit the sweet spot for affordability. The screen is HDR400 certified, offers dual HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4 inputs, and includes a tilting stand – everything you’d expect from a modern gaming display.
No pricing has been announced yet, but I’m hoping it lands in a friendly price range.
The press release also touts “AI‑enhanced gaming features” such as Shadow Boost, Smart Crosshair, Smart Sniper and Smart MBR sync. Most of these can be ignored, but they show that Philips is trying to add a tech‑savvy sheen to an otherwise straightforward product.
In today’s market, where many monitors are already affordable, this model looks promising for anyone wanting an upgrade without breaking the bank. It’s a refreshing change from the usual AI‑driven hype, and I’m keeping a close eye on it.
