How to Get Mutated Eggs
In Palworld, the breeding farm can produce eggs that look normal, but occasionally an egg will appear distorted. These mutated eggs are a visual cue that the hatched Pal will start with higher stats and special passive abilities.
What Are Mutated Eggs?
A mutated egg is produced when two Pals mate in the breeding farm. They do not appear at natural egg spawn points. The chance of obtaining one is low, but once you understand the mechanic you can increase it.
Cakes That Raise Mutation Odds
Several cake recipes unlock with Technology Points and give bonuses during breeding:
The Mushroom Cake, unlocked at level 30, speeds up Pal growth but does not affect mutation chance.
The Vegetable Cake, unlocked at level 47, lets each Pal lay two eggs per cycle, effectively doubling the odds of seeing a mutated egg.
The Extravagant Vegetable Cake, available at level 60 after unlocking the Large‑Scale Stone Oven, triples the base mutation rate, giving roughly a three‑percent chance when both parents have consumed the cake.
The Special Cake, unlocked at level 74, improves the transmission of parent passive skills to offspring, which is useful for preserving desired abilities.
Passive Skills from Mutated Eggs
Pals hatched from mutated eggs start with a power boost and possess five exclusive passive skills. The most sought‑after is Babysitter, which raises egg production speed and incubation speed by 30% while the Pal is assigned to the breeding farm, making future mutations more likely. Other passives include Idiosyncratic (health regeneration, defense, burn and poison immunity), Immortality (damage absorption, health regeneration, attack boost), Heavily Armored (explosion immunity), and Sky Strider (extra mounted jump).
Tips for Maximizing Mutated Eggs
Stack the breeding farm with the Extravagant Vegetable Cake and ensure both parent Pals have eaten it to reach about a 3% mutation chance. Focus on obtaining the Babysitter passive first, as its breeding speed boost accelerates the overall process. The base one‑percent odds can be improved, but the Ancient Breeding Farm does not change mutation frequency.
