How to Get the Bashpole in Phantom Blade Zero

In Phantom Blade Zero, the Bashpole is a versatile Phantom Edge that works as both a weapon and a tool for exploration. While it can be used in combat, its real strength lies in helping you reach hidden areas and traverse the world.

Where to Find the Bashpole

You cannot obtain the Bashpole until much later in the game, but fast travel makes revisiting early locations easy. To acquire it, first travel through the Village of Lu and the Pangzhen region, defeat Gu Wanyue, The Wailing Wraith, then enter the Well of Wei Sanchuan. The key found there unlocks the Mandate Encampment. Proceed to the gate, break the chain with the Cleave Axe, and you will meet Wan Jun, The Coppermaul, whose location holds the Bashpole.

How to Beat Wan Jun, The Coppermaul

Wan Jun is massive but moves slowly and attacks clumsily, giving you plenty of time to react. His attacks are telegraphed, so you can parry or dodge them with ease. Use quick strikes while he recovers, and watch for his double‑strike Bashpole attacks, which are his fastest. Unlike heavily armored bosses, you can break his guard with normal attacks, so focus on opening him up when he stumbles or falls.

How to Use the Bashpole

Equipping the Bashpole lets you hold the Phantom Edge button (R2 on PS5) to swing it three times around your head before slamming it down. Releasing early ends the combo with an early slam. For traversal, you don’t need to equip it; near a weak wooden floor, press R2 to slam the Bashpole into the ground, causing Soul to drop to the level below.
