Dragon’s Dogma 2 Gets a Delicious in Dungeon Crossover
Someone at Capcom has clearly read the fan mail I’ve been sending them, because today’s free patch for Dragon’s Dogma 2 includes a surprise bit of content: outfits and custom pawns of Laios and Marcille from Ryoko Kui’s beloved cooking manga Delicious in Dungeon.
If you haven’t read or watched Delicious in Dungeon (or, as it’s known in Japan, Dungeon Meshi), this might seem like the most random collaboration of all time, a bit like when Nintendo put a literal Mercedes-Benz in Mario Kart 8. But trust me, it’s a perfect crossover. Both Dragon’s Dogma and Delicious in Dungeon take a lot of inspiration from Dungeons & Dragons, and I’m now realizing that the abundance of double‑Ds in the last sentence probably isn’t a coincidence.
The free armor sets of both Laios and Marcille fit perfectly in Dragon’s Dogma 2, although the official companion pawns look a little off, reminding me of the Delicious in Dungeon episode where the party is replaced by shapeshifters. Even if you don’t care about this collab, having Laios’ armor means we finally get a wearable backpack! Considering a wearable backpack is one of the most popular mods, this will be huge news for fans of Dragon’s Dogma.
More importantly, this suggests Capcom isn’t finished with Dragon’s Dogma 2. We’ve just gotten the Dark Arisen expansion, and many expected that to be the final new content.
